Careers · Mooresville, NC

Millwork is our first trade.
It won’t be our last.

Peppermodern is a young company with more demand than we can serve, the newest CNC equipment in the area, and a plan to keep adding capabilities for decades. We’re building the team that builds it.

01 / OPEN ROLE

The work is here. We need the woodworker.

Now hiring Mooresville, NC Full time · hands-on lead

Working Shop Lead — Commercial Casework

We already have trusted CNC operation and separate engineering support. We need the experienced woodworker who makes sure the work actually goes together.

This is a hands-on lead role. You’ll receive approved drawings, CNC-cut parts, purchased materials, and a required date. You’ll review the work for constructability, plan secondary operations, lead assembly, solve difficult details, and take the job to shop-ready completion — while teaching the people working beside you.

You probably fit if:

  • You have five or more years building casework, fixtures, production cabinetry, or architectural millwork.
  • You understand particleboard, MDF, melamine, laminate, veneer, edge banding, hardware, and frameless assembly.
  • You can read a drawing and see the build sequence — and the likely failure points — before anything is cut.
  • You enjoy solving difficult secondary operations and teaching someone else to do them correctly.
  • You still want to build, not only supervise.

What you won’t be asked to own: sales, estimating, CAD detailing, G-code, or corporate plant management. The owner keeps customers and pricing. Engineering keeps Mozaik and CNC-ready data. Your job is how approved work actually gets built.

Apply with a resume or a short description of what you’ve built — photos welcome. Finalists complete a two-hour paid drawing, constructability, and shop review. Full posting with compensation and benefits publishing this week.

02 / HOW WE HIRE

Two tracks. One standard.

We hire experienced hands who are still getting better, and green builders who learn fast. We pay above market to get and keep both. Start with the seven values we run on →

Track 01 · Experienced hands

Mastered a craft. Still curious.

People who’ve done the work for years, will teach what they know, and stay curious about what they don’t — better systems, better tools, and a say in building them.

Bring your experience. Leave “the way it’s always been done.”

Track 02 · Green builders

No trade background. Sharp and coachable.

People we train across engineering, fabrication, and installation. As the company adds capabilities, early people get first shot at leading them. Not hiring for this track just yet — but introduce yourself.

No experience required. High standards required.

At any level of experience What we don’t hire: “this is the way I’ve always done it.” We look for aptitude, attitude, and coachability — your craft gets you the interview; your curiosity gets you the job.

03 / WHY HERE

A shop worth betting on.

The tools

CNC-driven from day one

CR Onsrud T-Series CNC, edge banding, and a digital workflow where the drawing you review is the file the machine cuts. You build; you don’t babysit paperwork.

The demand

More work than people

We paused active selling because demand outran the team — not the other way around. The constraint this company is solving is you.

The arc

First trade of many

Millwork is where we start. The plan adds capabilities year after year — and the people here early lead them.

Peppermodern is an equal opportunity employer. Equivalent experience, apprenticeships, military service, and demonstrated skill are valid pathways.
